About the Ringtone:

Tibetan Temple – This is a clip composed entirely of vocal sounds. I’ve been recording vocalists for years and then cutting and stretching sounds to make vocal ‘washes’ behind pieces. The great thing about this loop is that this is a live recording of a Tibetan prayer for peace- performed by the head chant master of the now destroyed Gyuto Monastery. So when your phone rings you are broadcasting a prayer for peace to the universe. ( And no, he doesn’t mind me using it – the recording was made several years ago when I was making a radio documentary at a festival and he gave the chant away.)

Biography

I am a songwriter and composer, arranger and producer.
I play guitars, keyboards, recorders and flute and random percussion objects.
I live in Bangalow in Northern NSW ( near Byron Bay) and spend my days writing longer stuff than this and painting. I present a radio program every week on Bay FM 99.9 concentrating on music and the visual and performing arts. In between I make ‘low-tech’ films and multi media presentations .

In 2000 I bought a computer and a friend introduced me to Acid Pro.2 and Soundforge and it changed my life as a musician. I started composing using loops and samples mixed with live input and produced my first album ‘Ethnotechno’. A year later all these tracks and a few more were accepted by Pump Audio in New York and to date have been used in over 100 placements on television in the US, UK and Asia by clients such as The Discovery Channel, PBS, The Oprah Winfrey Show, HGTV, National Geographic, MTV and more.

Being on the web also brought me collaborations with other artists producing the album ’Life in the Barrens’ with Mike Mosczulewski (Wisconsin, USA) and Stephen Russel (Bristol UK). We are currently working on our second album, called ‘Fray’.
In between I have produced 3 other albums ‘ Trance Tales’, ‘com.passion ‘and ‘Atmospheres.’

I also write material for my own live performance and occasionally give acoustic concerts but prefer to work in multi media presentations.
