Biography
Phil Bywater is one of the finest saxophonists in Australia, an exciting and dynamic performer. His experience is diverse, encompassing jazz and world music, free improv, reggae, funk, rock and contemporary classical music. He has toured Australia, the United States, Europe and South East Asia, played most Australian music festivals, and recorded on scores of independent releases and soundtracks for film and television.
Since 1989, Phil has been composing for ensembles ranging from solo saxophone to large improvising orchestras, with his pieces being recorded and broadcast on public radio and television across Australia. He has composed and/or performed music for numerous dance, theatre and film projects, notably the Victorian Arts Centre/Aichi Arts Centre (Japan) co-production 'Yan/En' coreographed by Sumei Yonei. www.philbywater.com www.myspace.com/philbywater
