Biography
Springing from the creative watering ground of Australia’s NSW South Coast, this three piece ensemble is poised to inspire the music industry with their lilting yet vibrant, groove-induced, world-friendly tunes.
After listening to their recently released first single “ New thought”, Fox Studios director Christopher Collins selected the band as the winners of a full production music video, which is currently being played on Rage, Aurora, and Bushvison.
Collins’ company Flickapolitan Films has produced clips for a string of high profile artists during the eighties such as Chris Rea, Sam Brown and Howard Jones. After abandoning his search for a ‘new sound’ in Sydney, Christopher stumbled across ‘New Thought’ while hanging out down south and promptly signed the Long Goodbyes up for the shoot. The video is an ethereal montage of pre-Raphaelite motifs.
The band has an eclectic mix of creative souls. The voice of singer/songwriter and artist Tracy Verdugo has been long compared to both free spirited Kate Bush, and Harriet Wheeler of the Sundays. Her passionate display of emotion is evident in her work. National award winning songwriter/guitarist Mex from the former Indie pop band Twinfish is also a talented engineer, recording and mixing and producing all the Long Goodbyes songs. Drummer, percussionist and keyboardist, John Coleman provides the rhythmic cohesion to the project with his jazz influenced world grooves providing a solid foundation.
The album explores themes which both unite and divide us as human beings. Imbued with a strong holistic worldview, it explores many different languages to highlight the wealth of cultural messages and sounds beyond English language. Spanning Japanese, French, Spanish and English, vocals also glide gracefully between sultry and uplifting, guided and inspired by intelligent composition. Combined, these elements deliver an album that both soothes and tantalise the senses, making it an essential part of any quality music collection. www.thelonggoodbyes.com www.myspace.com/theloooooooonggoodbyes
