Harpsichordist Anastasia Russell-Head is currently enrolled in the Master of Music Performance program at the VCA, studying with Priscilla Alderton and Timothy Stevens.
She grew up in Melbourne, and in 2001 graduated with Honours from the Faculty of Music, Melbourne University, where she also completed a Bachelor of Arts. After a flirtation with Production and Events Management (VCA School of Production, 2003), Anastasia realised that her real passion lay with music, and she is especially interested in extending the harpsichord and its repertoire beyond the baroque “pigeon hole” and into the worlds of theatre and improvisation.
In recent years she has collaborated with the bettybooke theatre company on their productions "All’s Well that Ends Well" (2004) and "The Belle, the Book, the Beast" (2005), and has also appeared with Deborah Langley in "A Tragic Diva" at the Melbourne Fringe Festival (2004) and Melbourne Comedy Festival (2005).
