About the ringtone:
In space no one can hear you dance.
Biography:
Jürgen Hobbs hails from London where he played in various English and Australian bands in the late 80’s and 90’s before moving to Australia permanently in 1995.
Jürgen played and toured with The Apartments in England and Europe at the height of the UK’s fascination with Australian and NZ music – the era of The Go Betweens, The Triffids, Dave Graney et al. During this time, he recorded among other things, the song ‘The Shyest Time’ with The Apartments which featured in one of the John Hughes produced Hollywood Brat Pack movies, ‘Some Kind of Wonderful’.
He also had a stint with ‘alternative’ New Zealand artist Bill Direen (The Bilders) – a whirlwind affair starting with the requirement to learn around thirty songs in three days.
Since moving to Australia Jürgen’s musical interests had moved into hibernation until recently. The focus is now on composition and sound design, having written for a TV commercial, and an independent film to date he is looking to expand on these opportunities.
Ringtones are a new departure and the idea of them becoming the new ‘Single’ is intriguing and is a call that just had to be answered.
